Guest Lecture by Professor Praveen Sinha

IFIM Business school was visited by a special guest from United states of America, Professor Praveen Sinha. Prior to joining CSU (California State University), Long Beach, Professor Sinha was a faculty at Chapman University. He has published high impact and seminal research papers in elite and high-quality accounting, finance and economics journals. Recently, his research paper was awarded the Outstanding Research Paper Award at a leading conference. Professor Sinha shared his research papers with the student’s of IFIM Business School which spoke about IPO Mechanism. He exhibited his insights on different anomalies of IPO and amused student’s with information on American financial practices, comparing it with Indian financial methodologies. He concluded his talk on his paper by a famous US saying which, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me” and he also pointed out another quote from Ramalingam Raju while discussing on the Satyam scam, “I was riding a tiger and trying to get off without getting eaten by it”. Well that quote surely taught student’s about R. Raju’s situation and being ethical in their organisation.
Professor Sinha also encourage student’s of IFIM Business School to take up their career as an academician. He opened the doors of possibilities and scope in this field and also provided the student’s with necessary information to do so. He also cleverly highlighted competition of Chinese and Indians in this field in America.
