Think Ink Club Presents: Short Film Making & Production Techniques Workshop
On 2nd and 3rd of February, 2017, a FILM making certificate course was organized by the ‘Think Ink’ Club of BA (JEP) Department. The two-day extensive training about the ‘detailed process’ involved in making short film was being conducted by Mr. Biju Mathew of Invati Productions Pvt. Ltd. At the outset of the training, a welcome speech was delivered by Subhashree Pattanayak of II Year, BA (JEP). Victoria Chacko of III Year, introduced, Mr. Biju Mathew to the students and faculty members.
Two Day Workshop
On the first day of the training, the students were given a brief description about the various fundamentals involved in the process of film making. Some sample videos were being shown to the students about film-making. Starting from the types of shots, the camera-holding techniques and even the steps involved in video-making was being taught to the students by Mr. Mathew. On the second half of the same day, the students were divided into four groups consisting of six students in each group, where they had to come up with a story based on the topic ‘Human Trafficking’ and prepare a complete script. After the script was ready, the dialogues were being added and hence after lunch, the shooting process started. Each individual was being assigned a significant job whose contribution added to the possibility of making the short film. The first day ended with the entire shooting process of the film. Some of the faculty members even acted in the films.
On the second day of the training, the concepts and techniques involved in the editing of the each scene was being taught-to the students using Adobe Premier Pro CS5, with the help of which, each individual team edited their film by cutting the edges and unnecessary shots. Then, the dialogues and background music was being recorded and added to the scenes. At last, the entire editing work was processed to have the film, being completed.
At the end of the day, the preview of all the films were being done in front of HOD ,Dr. Pooja Besnett, Department of Journalism, Prof. Venugopal, Department of psychology & Prof. Asif Ali, Department of BBM. The certificates for the two-day course were being distributed to all the students. A token of appreciation was being handed by our HOD to Mr.Biju Matthew.
