Report on Walkathon

Date – 27th September, 2015

Venue – Kumaraswamy Layout

In association with – Sagar Hospitals, Bangalore.

On account of World Heart Day, the Sagar Hospitals , Banglore had organized a Walkathon on Sunday, the 27th September, 2015. Around 300 people from all walks of life participated in the walk which was for 3.5 kms.

The NSS Unit of our college was invited to assist the event as volunteers. Our group was divided into two teams. One was with the people who were walking and other team was taken to the residential part of the area and used to give away some goodies, gifts and fliers which talked about the importance of keeping the heart healthy.

The event began around 8am and went up to 10am. After some discussion with the organizers and a photo session, breakfast was served exclusively for our volunteers. The whole event was organized well and it was evident that the event was successful in creating some awareness among the public. Probably, this kind of an event was new to the people of that area and it was evident with the way they used to stand and stare in different corners.

It was indeed a much satisfying day for all the volunteers to associate with a leading chain of hospitals in conducting an awareness programme on the occasion of ‘World Heart Day’. All the volunteers and the NSS Programme Officer Asst Prof Venkatesh.B.B were given away certificates of appreciation.
